Ferenc Mádl was buried with great condolences in the National Graveyard (Fiumei Úti Sírkert), near the grave of Prime Minister József Antall. His gravestone was completed a year later.
Since 2012, he has been honoured in several places: a square in Tihany (Mádl Ferenc tér), monuments in Bánd and Herend, and plaques in Beregszász (Berehovo, Ukraine) and Rimaszombat (Rimavská Sobota, Slovakia).
In 2019, the Hungarian Ministry of Justice’s research institute took up his name (Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law), and is also responsible for the care of his legacy. Research into his life and work began almost simultaneously with the establishment of the Ferenc Mádl Institute, and a new edition of his most important works have been published in the ‘Works of Ferenc Mádl’ series, which was launched in 2022.
The life of Ferenc Mádl was the subject of a documentary in 2022 (Ferenc Mádl. The President of the Nation) and a two-volume monograph in 2023/2024.
