Private Life

Ferenc Mádl was primarily perceived by his contemporaries as a university professor and public figure.

This was partly due to the fact that he consciously avoided the press throughout his life, and rarely and briefly commented on his own life and significant research achievements, as well as on his family.

The characteristics of the private man – his simplicity, modesty, directness
and deep love for his fellow citizens – have therefore become known mainly only from obituaries and reminiscences written after his death.
One of these, an interview with members of his closest family on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of his death, can be read below (in Hungarian):
